This page was created to help you, our customer, get the most money for your recyclable metals. If you have a question not addressed on this page, please feel free to call us at (814) 427-2022 or email us at gmc@grudametals.com

Here are some quick facts:

  • Aluminum Cans - can be crushed or whole, we will take them either way!
  • Prep. Steel - 2 foot x 3 foot maximum size  -  Best price option
  • Unprep. Steel - exceeds max. size for prep. steel
  • Batteries - this means auto batteries, we do not accept household batteries.
  • Radiators - must have all steel and plastic removed for best price.
  • Motorblocks - Oil pan and oil must be removed.

TIN - Appliances, cars, and thin sheet metal are categorized as tin. Refrigerators and freezers must have the refrigerant removed and the doors disconnected. Numerous items fit the tin category, and we simply do not have room to list them all. If you have items you are unsure of, please feel free to call us at (814) 427-2022 or email us at gmc@grudametals.com.

"CLEAN" Metals - When we refer to "clean " metals we mean free of other materials. For example: "clean" aluminum will be free of insulation, nails, screws, and staples.

SCALES - When you arrive at our location with steel, cast iron, motor blocks, aluminum, or tin pull directly onto the scale. Park your vehicle on the scale and walk into the scalehouse office. The scalemaster will get your name and direct you through the next step. Our scales are two-way, you can pull on in either direction. Please be courteous to other customers and take turns pulling on the scales.

MIXED LOADS - Gruda Metals accepts mixed loads and we will gladly show you the best way to get the most from your load. Please keep in mind when loading that different materials go to different areas. Load like items together to make unloading easier. For example: If you come in with prep. steel, unprep. steel, tin and aluminum, load each category in a separate area of your vehicle or in layers in the order you want to unload. We have no limit to the number of times you can weigh in and out on our scales.

MINIMUMS - All items which are paid for "by the pound" have a minimum quantity of 1 pound. All items which are paid for "by CWT" have a minimum quantity of 40 pounds.

CWT - We now pay by CWT (hundred weight) for all steel, cast iron, motorblocks, and tin. CWT = 100 pounds.

ROLL OFF SERVICES - We have roll off services available. We can drop a box at your location, on your schedule, and pickup at your convenience. We do not charge for local pickup or delivery of boxes for steel, cast iron, or aluminum. You are welcome to accompany your box back to our yard and see the weights. All boxes are paid according to current price list. If you would like more information, please contact Duce at (814) 427-2022.

HOURS - Our hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Tuesday through Saturday. The scales close at 3:45 daily. This is to allow time for you to unload and reweigh before closing time.

WE DO NOT ACCEPT: Gas tanks, propane tanks, barbed wire, televisions, computers, microwaves, glass, plastic, household garbage, upholstered furniture, wood, and tires. Please contact your local landfill or garbage collector for disposal of these items.
